Destination

Seoul

Seoul runs on a subway that is better than its reputation and on apps that assume you already have a local number. You do not need the number. You do need the data.

Before you land

Incheon is an AREX train ride from the city. Install before immigration if the cabin wifi allows it. English signage on the metro is good; the last block to a guesthouse often is not on the English map in your head.

Getting around

T-money cards are sold in stations and also live in some phone wallets. Naver and Kakao maps are better than Google for walking routes in Korea. If you only have Google, it is still enough for the subway.

Practical notes

Cafe wifi wants a Korean phone number more often than you would like. That is the whole case for a data plan. Plugs are type C and F.
