Osaka is a food city with a subway map that looks simple until you are standing in Umeda trying to find the right department-store exit.
Before you land
Kansai airport is an hour out. The Haruka express and the limousine buses are both easier with a live ticket in your phone. Install before you land; airport wifi is a queue.
Getting around
The subway is color-coded and still confusing at Umeda and Namba, which are underground cities. Maps matter more than a phrasebook. Dotombori at night is a walking neighborhood; the plan is for the reservation and the ride home.
Practical notes
Card payments are common and not universal in smaller counters. Keep a little cash. Type A plugs, same as the rest of Japan.
