Before you land
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and Luton all pretend to be 'London' and then charge you an hour. The Elizabeth line, Gatwick Express, and Stansted Express are all phone-ticket problems. Install before you take off.
Getting around
Contactless bank cards work on TfL. Citymapper or Google Maps is how you pick the bus that is actually coming. The tube is deep; signal returns at the station, which is when you need the exit number.
Practical notes
Plugs are type G. Cards are assumed. A rainy day rearranges every plan, which is the argument for a week of data rather than a single day.
